The country music world was stunned when it was announced Sunday (March 29) that singer Joe Diffie had passed away from coronavirus complications.

His family revealed the news on his Facebook account.

Just two days prior, the country singer made a statement revealing that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

I am under the care of medical professions and currently receiving treatment after testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19),” the statement read. “My family and I are asking for privacy at this time.

Once news spread about Diffie’s death, tributes began pouring in from fellow country singers and fans alike.

One of those fans was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is a known country music fan.

“As a huge fan and admirer, I’m really bummed to hear the passing of Joe Diffie due to covid-19,” he wrote on Twitter. “My prayers go out to his family during this tough time.”

He also quoted lyrics from Diffie’s 1990 song “Home.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe’s widow, Tara, his children, the rest of his family, and friends.
