In 2008, legendary brother-sister duo, Donny and Marie Osmond, kicked off what was supposed to be a six-week residency at the Flamingo in Las Vegas. That six weeks turned into an 11-year run.

Saturday night (November 16), Donny and Marie bid farewell to Las Vegas with their final residency show. But, the night wasn’t without emotion. In fact, quite the opposite was true. Footage captured by those in attendance show the Osmond duo singing through tears on numerous occasions throughout the night.

“I don’t know how I’m going to get through this,” Donny told Marie as they walked to center stage to close the show with their trademark closing song, “May Tomorrow Be a Perfect Day.” As the music started, Donny attempted to sing but had to start over when he couldn’t sing for the crying.

After composing himself, Donny began to sing the familiar lyrics as Marie joined in:

“May tomorrow be a perfect day”
May you find love and laughter along the way
May God keep you in His tender care
‘Til He brings us together again”

Both Donny and Marie took to social media following the memorable night to reflect and thank those who made their residency a success.

After 11 years and 1,730 shows, we just concluded the final performance of our #DonnyandMarie Las Vegas residency. 🕺🏻💃🏻⁣ ⁣ I want to express my deepest thanks to everyone who came to see the show during our 11-year run here in Vegas. You've traveled from all over the world to see us perform. We feel and sincerely appreciate your loyal support. ⁣ ⁣ Our show and our Vegas residency here at @flamingovegas would not have been possible without our phenomenal crew, stage manager, video director, band, dancers, wardrobe and makeup teams, maitre d's, ushers and staff at @flamingovegas. Your warmth, energy and skill are irreplaceable. I'll miss all of you.⁣ ⁣ I owe the biggest thank you of all to my dear sister who worked so hard, side-by-side with me all of these years. ⁣ ⁣ 🎶"May tomorrow be a perfect day, ⁣ May you find love and laughter along the way. ⁣ May God keep you in his tender care, 'till he brings us together again.⁣ Goodnight everybody!"🎶

In a post shared by Marie on Sunday morning, she confirmed that their final Las Vegas show is also the last time her and Donny will perform together after being duet partners for more than 50 years.

“Last night was our final show as #DonnyAndMarie, and we sang together as we have been doing for over 5 decades—practically my whole life—but this time was for the last time. I kept telling everyone don’t be sad because I’m not losing him, we are, after all, still brother and sister… I’ll see him at Christmas! But our time together as Donny and Marie will be a bit different now,” Marie wrote.

Well we made it over the finish line and I only limped a little!! I was raised to “get it done” and by golly we did! 😂❤️ Last night was our final show as #DonnyAndMarie, and we sang together as we have been doing for over 5 decades—practically my whole life—but this time was for the last time. I kept telling everyone don’t be sad because I’m not losing him, we are, after all, still brother and sister… I’ll see him at Christmas! 😂 But our time together as Donny and Marie will be a bit different now. Change can be difficult, right? But learning to embrace change makes it a bit easier and a good reminder that it’s the only thing in life that IS consistent. 😉 Still, this is one of those times that isn’t easy to move forward without some tears. I’ve had many life-changing events occur, we all have, but for me being at the Flamingo was exactly the “stay at home job” I needed. God is truly incredible that way. Neither one of us saw those eleven years coming but as they transpired we have felt so blessed by this experience. During this 11 year run one of my personal favorite things has been YOU, our amazing fans! That part has been exactly what I needed because I have been able to meet you and not just talk to you but really get to know you!! You are inspiring, genuine, full of love, and a blessing to me! I have God to thank for putting you all in my life!! Now here we are… Donny and I were initially signed to perform at the Flamingo in Vegas for 6 weeks, and eleven years later we’ve wrapped up our final show. Today I will spend the Sabbath cherishing all the memories. So: May tomorrow be a perfect day. May you find love and laughter along the way. May God keep you in his tender care Till he brings us together again! Go to my Facebook page to read the rest of my tribute and #SundayMessage, and make sure you tune in to @thetalkcbs tomorrow (Monday) to go behind-the-scenes of our last day at @flamingovegas!! It was so special to have my CBS family be a part of it, and I can't wait for you all to watch.
