Have you ever heard of Dolly Parton getting angry? The odds are low, but never zero.
The country music icon known for her spunky but sweet personality revealed a shocking trait about herself. She recently revealed how she deals with anger during an interview with Nancy O’Dell on TalkShopLive where she shared that she’ll tell somebody off if she needs to.
O’Dell asked, “Do you ever get angry, Dolly?” To which the “Jolene” singer replied, “Oh yeah!”
“Well, you ain’t going to see it unless you cross me,” the 77-year-old laughed. “I’m just a regular person. I’m not one where I’m one person out here and another [in private]. I’m a businessperson. Sometimes you’ve just kind of gotta pitch a fit to get it done or get it done right. Or if somebody’s messin’ with my family or messin’ with my work. Like I’ve always said, I’ll tell ya where to put it if I don’t like where you got it. I think anybody’s like that. You can’t just go through life just floating around getting anything done,” Parton continued.

“I don’t lose my temper, but I use my temper.”
“Of course, I’ve lost it a few times, too, but I try to say that it’s not that I’m losing my temper, I’m trying to use it because sometimes there are just some people you have to speak up to,” Dolly said. “Because if they don’t know, especially as a shock, for somebody like me to raise my voice to people, that’s not what they’re used to.”
Parton then explains that she sometimes raises her voice to get the attention of those who won’t listen.
“Sometime it is for an effect because some people just won’t listen otherwise. But, yeah, I’m no angel…I just play one on TV,” Dolly said laughing. “But I do have a good attitude, and I have a good heart. you gotta push me pretty far to get me stirred up — but then I become my daddy. I say ‘okay now, that’s enough.'” Dolly joked in a manly voice impersonating her dad.
Parton is the most successful female country singer-songwriter of all time with more No. 1 hits than any other female artist in history. Parton has had songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for seven decades. The country music icon has written more than 3,000 songs, and she has won an impressive 10 Grammy Awards along with numerous other awards.
