Dolly Parton Releases Christmas-Themed Children’s Book

Last week, the country legend announced on social media that she will be releasing a brand new children’s Christmas book titled Dolly Parton’s Billy the Kid Comes Home for Christmas.

“I always love celebrating Christmas with my family and of course my god-dog [Billy The Kid,]” Parton wrote. “Using my ‘Comin’ Home for Christmas’ lyrics, I wanted to tell a story about the importance of family and friends, especially during the holidays. I hope this is a book families will be excited to read every year for Christmas.”

The new book serves as a standalone sequel to Parton’s previous New York Times bestseller, Dolly Parton’s Billy the Kid Makes It Big.

Dolly Parton has always had a passion for providing children with reading material and making sure access to books is easy for everyone.

That’s why she started the Imagination Library in 1995.

This program sends free, high-quality books to children from birth until they start school, regardless of their family’s income, according to the organization’s website.

Today, Dolly’s literacy program gives away over 3 million books each month. As of October 2024, the Imagination Library has provided more than 254 million books to children in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.
