Details Released About Public Memorial Service For NASCAR’s Greg Biffle And Other Plane Crash Victims
Plans have been established for a memorial service honoring retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and six others killed in a plane crash on December 18.
Around 10:20 AM on December 18, a Cessna C550 jet crashed at the Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina. However, initial reports didn’t name the victims.
Later, a statement released by the victims’ families confirmed their identities. Sadly, Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, their son Ryder, and Greg’s daughter Emma were all killed in the crash.
The statement identified the other victims as Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and Dennis’ son, Jack Dutton. A GoFundMe has been established to help Craig Wadsworth’s family pay for funeral expenses.

Now, a date has been set for a memorial service honoring Greg Biffle and the other plane crash victims
The Charlotte Observer reports the service will take place on Friday, January 16, at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte at a yet-to-be-announced time. Members of the public are welcome to attend. Those who can’t attend the service can watch it online via livestream.
Bob Pockrass, a motorsports reporter for FOX Sports, said the service will be “A Gathering in Remembrance.” More details will emerge at a later date.
A Gathering in Remembrance, honoring the lives lost in the Dec. 18 plane crash in Statesville, will be on the morning of January 16 at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. The gathering, open to the public, will also be live-streamed. Additional details TBA.

Additionally, Greg’s obituary highlights his generous spirit and compassion for others.
“Greg was a dedicated philanthropist,” the obituary reads. “He cared for animal welfare, creating the Greg Biffle Foundation to provide grants to humane societies across the country. He was a member of the board of Lake Norman Humane and helped build their facilities. Greg was also passionate about blood donation as a universal donor. Once he retired from racing he started dabbling in hurricane relief by driving to Florida with extra fuel for stranded individuals and helping transport displaced animals from the shelters. What became most notable was his work in Western North Carolina during Hurricane Helene. He risked his life to help others, and would never second guess it. To many, he was a hero.”
