The final week of Blind Auditions on Season 25 of The Voice started Monday night with one of our favorite performances of the season….from Dan + Shay.
20-year-old Zoe Levert took the stage to perform the Taylor Swift-penned Little Big Town hit, “Better Man.” After a rough start, things weren’t looking good for Zoe as no coaches were quick to turn. As her nerved settled, she finished the song strong and earned a last-minute turn from coach John Legend, securing her spot in the upcoming Battle Rounds.
But, the audition got even sweeter for Zoe when she told Dan + Shay that she and her fiance were going to be dancing their first dance to the duo’s song, “From The Ground Up.” Dan and Shay asked Zoe’s fiance, Ryan, to join her on stage then requested a guitar.
The award-winning duo asked if they could sing some of their song for the couple, then joked that there was a pastor there if they wanted to go ahead and get married then and there.
“No pressure at all, but we actually have a pastor here if you guys just want to knock it out right now,” Shay said.
“It would be a first on ‘The Voice,'” Dan told the pair.
Shay Mooney asked John Legend if he was ordained, to which Legend replied, “We got a vacation Bible school teacher that might be ordained.”
The country duo then sang their 2016 hit as Zoe and Ryan danced. Chance the Rapper declared, “Now I’m gonna cry. This is a great moment.” He was later seen in the clip recording the memorable moment on his phone.
Zoe Levert, who is from New Orleans, Louisiana, has since married Ryan Turner. The couple tied the knot in mid-January.
