Colt Ford Shares That His Father, Paul, Has Passed Away
In a video posted to his Instagram account, country singer Colt Ford revealed the heartbreaking news that his father, Paul, passed away on Tuesday evening (April 8). He was 89 years old.
Ford thanked everyone who had sent prayers and support to his family over the past few days. He also said he felt very blessed to have had his dad in his life for as long as he did.
The “What Do Ya Think About That” singer told his followers that his dad “eased off” while holding the hands of his wife of 62 years and his grandson, Ford’s son.
“Was a Blessing to have my Daddy for 89 years,” Ford wrote in the video’s caption. “Last night he went Home to be with the Lord. Thank Y’all for all the Prayers. Love Y’all.”

His father’s passing comes almost exactly one year after Ford suffered a near-fatal heart attack.
It happened right after he stepped offstage following a performance. He later revealed that medics had to revive him twice and that he underwent a 10-hour surgery. Doctors ended up placing three stents in his heart.
Thankfully, Ford is now on an incredible journey to bettering his health. Not long ago, he shared that he’s lost over 60 pounds thanks to making major lifestyle changes.
“I’m going to be healthier than I’ve ever been,” he said during an interview with PEOPLE. “I was a terrible eater…I’ve changed everything. If I go by Whataburger, I’ll eat a grilled chicken sandwich. I don’t do all the fries and stuff. McDonald’s used to be my s*** and I loved it but I haven’t even craved it.”
“I can get on the treadmill, if the TV’s on, next thing you know, I’m like, ‘Oh, s—, I walked eight miles,’” he added.
Ford has also made his way back to the stage following his health scare. While he’s not fully recovered yet, he’s doing well enough to get back to doing what he loves.
He’s currently on tour and will continue through the summer, with stops in 13 different cities.
