A home formerly owned by Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood has been listed for sale for $21 million.

The mansion, located in California’s Carmel-by-the-Sea, was Clint Eastwood‘s home for 15 years, from 1981 to 1996. The actor served as mayor of the small community for two years in the ’80s.

Clint Eastwood proudly holds up a t-shirt proclaiming him as the mayor of Carmel, California, during his acceptance speech on April 9, 1986.

Eastwood sold the home in 1996 to Frederick O’Such, a retired investor, for $2.25 million. O’Such reportedly put another $2.5 million into renovating the property in 1997, meaning there is likely little indication that Clint Eastwood ever lived there.

The “Spanish Revival-style house,” known as Los Ondas, was built in 1924 and is located one block from the Pacific Ocean. It features 4,400 square feet of living space with four bedrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, a courtyard, and an outdoor firepit with an ocean view.

“My family has loved living and entertaining at this iconic property for nearly three decades,” O’Such said in a statement. “Right after we purchased the home, we rebuilt the interior spaces, adding in an Arts and Crafts style by installing Mahogany wood finishes, Cherry wood floors, and other elements that were interesting to me. It is time for the next owner to enjoy this historic home and share it with their friends and family for years to come.”

In a 2023 interview, Clint Eastwood shared why Carmel has such a special place in his heart and why, even after selling Los Ondas, he chose to settle in the area.

“When I was in the Army, I was stationed nearby at Fort Ord, and I would come into downtown Carmel. I had my first legal beer at Mission Ranch, but more than that, I always felt it was a place I’d like to come back to, a place to call home,” The “Dirty Harry” actor told Carmel Magazine. “I love the people here. I love the golf. I love the coastline. I love the weather. I love that I am close to Los Angeles and San Francisco. It was the perfect place for me.”

Eastwood served as mayor of the seaside town for two years.

The actor decided to throw his hat in the political ring after growing frustrated with city officials who gave him the runaround about building projects that would help the community. Eastwood launched his mayoral campaign at the last minute, ultimately winning the seat with more than 72% of the popular vote.

Eastwood accomplished his political goals during his two-year term and opted to return to full-time filmmaking. But, his mark on the Carmel community is still evident, making it a desirable place for ocean lovers to settle….for the right price.
