Chris Stapleton Is The New Voice Of Monday Night Football – Catch A Preview Of His Performance
Earlier this year, Chris Stapleton performed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. His rendition was highly praised by viewers, who called it one of the best performances of the Anthem they’ve ever seen.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach, Nick Sirianni, was even caught crying during the performance.
Now, Stapleton is furthering his connection to the football community. He was recently named the new voice of Monday Night Football on ESPN.
Stapleton Joins Snoop Dogg & Cindy Blackman Santana To Remake Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight”
On Monday (September 18), ESPN announced that Stapleton has joined Snoop Dogg and drummer Cindy Blackman Santana to remake Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” for Monday Night Football. As ESPN states in a press release:
“ESPN’s Monday Night Football will elevate the excitement and emotions leading into each game with a new music video open that combines nostalgia with intensity.“
The new theme will debut tonight (September 18) ahead of Monday Night Football. It will lead into the Saints vs. Panthers game on ESPN and the Browns vs. Steelers game on ABC.
From there, the trio’s new theme will air before all Monday Night Football games, ESPN’s Week 18 Saturday Doubleheader, Super Wild Card, and the first Divisional playoff game.
Stapleton covers Collins’ original lyrics, while Snoop Dogg adds “his signature style [by] adding football-centric verses.”
