If a country artist is nominated for an award, it raises eyebrows when they choose to skip an awards ceremony. It’s even more mystifying when the most nominated artist of the night doesn’t show. Just ask Chris Stapleton who was the most nominated artist of the 2018 ACM Awards. Fans were puzzled when Stapleton wasn’t spotted on the red carpet or in the crowd, but he had a great reason for skipping out.
After it was revealed that Stapleton had won the Album of the Year for From A Room: Volume 1, ACM Awards show host Reba McEntire accepted the trophy on behalf of the singer and announced that he wasn’t in attendance because he was at home with his wife and their newborn twin boys. It’s unclear exactly when the twins were born, but Reba seemed to indicate that they arrived Sunday, April 15, which was also Chris’s birthday.

Chris’s wife Morgane announced they were expecting twins in an anniversary post on Instagram marking the spouses’ 10-year wedding anniversary in October.
“14 years, 2 babies, & 2 more on the way. Happy 10 year anniversary babe! You make my whole world go round,” Morgane captioned the photo.

Morgane confirmed the news of the twins’ birth on Instagram, and revealed that they had been born more than a month early.
“Thank you for all the love! We’re so grateful to finally be home with our sweet family,” the proud momma wrote. “At more than a month early, we had a week long stay in the nicu & the incredible people there kept our boys healthy & happy. Words cannot express our gratitude for you all & what you did for our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!”
