Their latest single that was released just a few months ago, this incredible live performance brought out some deep emotions from not only the crowd but from the artists themselves. And we don’t blame them at all.
“The Daughters” is the very first single from their highly-anticipated 9th studio album – which will be their first since 2017’s The Breaker, that featured the No. 1 hit “Better Man.”

The single debuted on April 5th, 2019 on country radio across the world and quickly became a much-talked-about tune that folks were interested in.
A poignant ballad with a straight arrow directed at the heart of female equality and unreal expectations, if you truly take a minute and listen to the lyrics you will understand – and it will bring you to tears.
…just like it almost did to Karen Fairchild.

Fairchild, who co-wrote the song with Sean McConnell and Ashley Ray, was very visibly choked up during the live performance – the very first since its release.
Check out all the lyrics to Little Big Town’s “The Daughters” below.
Oh girl, wash your face ‘fore you come to the table / Girl, know your place, be willing and able / Take it on the chin, let the best man win / Girl, shoulders back and stand up straight / Girl, watch your mouth and watch your weight / Mind your manners, smile for the camera”
Chorus: “And pose like a trophy on a shelf / Dream for everyone but not yourself / I’ve heard of God the Son and God the Father / I’m still looking for a God for the daughters”
“Girl don’t be weak and don’t be strong / Say what you want just as long / As you nod your head with your lipstick on”
Chorus X2
“Wash the dishes, feed the kids and clean up all this mess / Do my best, forgive myself and look good in this dress / Damn I look good in this dress”
We are completely in awe of this country quartet and their incredible ability to tell a beautiful, yet poignant story through song.
