July 24 is a special day in Bindi Irwin‘s life for two reasons. For starters, it’s her birthday!
The second reason why Bindi will always treasure July 24 is because it’s the day she got engaged to her now-husband, Chandler Powell. Chandler popped the question on Bindi’s 21st birthday in 2019, much to her surprise.
“On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” Bindi wrote when she announced her engagement on social media.
Now, one year later, Bindi and Chandler are married!
Due to the current world environment, the couple was forced to put their original wedding plans on hold. They still wanted to get married, so they held an intimate ceremony at Australia Zoo on March 25.
The zoo was also closed to the public at that time, and remained closed for awhile. So Bindi and Chandler spent their honeymoon at the zoo taking care of all of the animals that live there!
Needless to say, a lot has changed in Bindi and Chandler’s world since her last birthday. Chandler wanted to honor the “epic” year they experienced, and did so through the note he wrote for Bindi’s 22nd birthday this year:
“For the first time ever as a married couple, happy birthday to my beautiful wife,” Chandler wrote. “This year has been nothing short of epic and you have handled everything thrown our way with courage and grace.“
He gushed even more about Bindi, writing, “You inspire me to be a better person every day with how much love you have to give. Thank you for making the world a better and brighter place. My best friend, my wife, my everything. I love you.”

We hope Bindi had a wonderful birthday this year!
She got to spend her special day with the people she loves, including Chandler, her mother Terri, and her younger brother Robert.
Robert shared a video of him, Terri, and Chandler all telling Bindi happy birthday. She sweetly turned to her mother and thanked her for giving birth to her, saying she was “very grateful.”
