Carrie Underwood Never Fails To Amaze With “How Great Thou Art”
Carrie Underwood treated her church to a beautiful performance during their Easter service. The American Idol alum and current judge led the congregation in worship by singing “How Great Thou Art.”
Underwood never fails to amaze when she sings “How Great Thou Art.” She has delivered several stunning performances of the faithful song, perhaps most notably during the ACM’s Girls’ Night Out: Superstar Women of Country TV special in 2011.
She sang alongside Vince Gill, who played guitar and sang harmony. The result was nothing short of breathtaking.

Then, in 2021, Underwood included her version of “How Great Thou Art” on her 2021 gospel album, My Savior. The album also contained recordings of “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “Softly and Tenderly”
Underwood also performed “How Great Thou Art” on American Idol in 2025 and 2026. Her 2026 performance, which fell during the March 30th “Songs of Faith” special, occurred just days before Easter Sunday.
Carrie Underwood Delivers Heavenly Performance During Easter Church Service
Underwood traveled home from Los Angeles to be back in Tennessee for Easter. On Easter Sunday, she stepped up onstage during her church’s service to sing “How Great Thou Art” with a group of other singers.
This wasn’t Underwood’s first time performing at her church. She has delivered several performances there during Christmas and other times throughout the years.
A churchgoer named Emily shared two videos of Underwood’s ethereal performance from this year’s Easter service. The caption on the video of her singing “How Great Thou Art” reads:
“When Carrie Underwood sings at your Easter service…just one of those moments you don’t forget the kind that gives you chills and makes you pause for a second ‘He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.’ Matthew 28:6 grateful for this day, this message, and moments that feel a little extra special.“
The second video Emily posted shows Underwood leading the church singers in a performance of “Name Above All Names” by Charity Gayle. Of that performance, Emily wrote, “It was just too wonderful.“
