Carrie Underwood shared her New Year’s Eve plans in a new interview.

Underwood often performs on New Year’s Eve, so her family does not have any running traditions to honor the holiday. In an interview with Taste of Country, the singer explained her New Year’s celebrations had changed each year. Underwood stated:

“We’ve done everything from just going out to dinner to playing in Times Square. So I guess no real traditions other than just hanging out, and that will probably be what we do this year.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic preventing large gatherings, Underwood will be having a low-key celebration for 2021. The country star, her husband, and their five-year-old son, Isaiah, are planning to stay up until the New Year together.

“Obviously, we’re not gonna go anywhere. But I’ll be with my husband, and maybe Isaiah will try to make it ’til midnight. I don’t know, we’ll see,” Underwood admitted.

Underwood did confess to one popular tradition that she would follow. The star wants to watch a New Year’s Eve television special. Understood states:

“I feel like we always have something in the background. I mean, everybody does.”

While things may look a little different this year, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will still air on ABC with performances from several country stars. The show will also take place in Times Square without a live audience.
