Carrie Underwood Previously Told Fans That She Got Booed A Lot This Season On American Idol

While teasing some future episodes, American Idol judge Carrie Underwood tweeted, “Spoiler alert…I get booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience.”

The “Before He Cheats” singer tagged the show in her post and included a flushed-faced emoji.

At the time, fans speculated about why she was booed, especially because we had only seen a preview for Hollywood Week. Some thought it was because of her political beliefs, which, by the way, she has not publicly discussed. Her singing at President Trump’s inauguration was enough for people to jump to their own conclusions about her beliefs.

A few reactions included, “I’ve been booing you since the inauguration,” adding, “And it’s still not loud enough.”

But it turns out, she was booed for her feedback after contestants performed during Hollywood Week.

What Did Carrie Underwood Say To Be Booed?

One of the biggest times she was booed was after Mor Ilderton’s performance, where he sang an original song. Before she gave her feedback, she told the crowd, “You guys are gonna boo me. You’re gonna boo me. It’s coming. Bring it on. I love it! Your boos are feeding me.”

The “Jesus, Take The Wheel” singer told Mor he should have sung a cover instead of an original song.

Underwood reiterated on X, “Singing original music is SUCH a gamble at this stage in the competition. Don’t. Waste. The. Band. Mor’s voice and previous audition kept him in. I wanna hear his original music after he’s a big star!”

Mor did not make the Top 30, so Underwood and her fellow judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, felt strongly enough to cut him from the competition.

Throughout the episode, she was booed for telling a contestant that she didn’t think they chose the right song and for saying another singer had a “mix of good notes and bad notes” in their performance.

While live tweeting the episode, Underwood said, “Boo me, I don’t care.”

After one of the more brutal rounds of her being booed, the judge asked Bryan, “Why don’t they boo you?”

He replied, “I don’t know, I’m trying to get booed,” showing her some sympathy.

She then asked the audience, “You’re not gonna bo him?!”

The camera panned to the audience, who continued to boo her and give her a thumbs-down! Luckily, she took it all in jest and was all smiles afterward.
