Meet Sophie Hammill, a newlywed mom from Yorkshire, England, who wanted to add a bit of surprise to her wedding day.
Hammill decided to sing the iconic love anthem as she gracefully walked down the aisle toward her groom.
A guest captured the unforgettable moment, which Hammill later shared on TikTok. The video quickly went viral, racking up over 900,000 views.
At first, the audience might have thought they were hearing a recording, but as Hammill came into view, microphone attached, it was clear that she was the one bringing the house down with her incredible voice. Dressed in a stunning white gown and clutching a beautiful bouquet, Hammill’s voice rang out with lyrics that were perfect for their special day:
“Looks like we made it, look how far we’ve come my baby.”
As Hammill approached, her husband’s reaction was priceless. Initially trying to hold back tears, he couldn’t contain his emotions as she got closer. During a recent interview with Newsweek, Hammill shared, “He still goes on about it.”
Hammill’s decision to serenade her groom came from a desire to create a memorable moment after a particularly tough time.
“I wanted to do something special and surprise my husband after a difficult year…We just had a premature baby at 28 weeks last November after I nearly lost my life to sepsis.”
With only her maid of honor and bridesmaid in on the secret, the groom had no idea what was coming. Hammill also shared her hope that her video encourages others to get creative with their weddings.
“I hope people remember to be unique and remember that a wedding is about the person you love,” she said.
This certainly was unique and we’re sure it made their big day even more special. Watch the special moment below!
