The body of Terri Lynn Kathey, beloved Nashville singer, songwriter, and musician, was found Tuesday afternoon after an extensive search.
Terri Lynn Kathey, who also went by Terri Lynn Blues, went missing Sunday morning (June 16) after she left her home in her 2017 Honda Civic to make a delivery for a courier company she and her husband operate. The 71-year-old’s last known location was at a Hardee’s in Nashville around 6:30 a.m.
According to a social media post by family friend Kerry Pharr, Terri’s husband, Kevin Kathey, began searching for her Sunday.
“Kevin Kathey is a nervous wreck and has been driving across the mountain and over to the Nick a Jack reservoir looking for her. He’s slept two hours since Saturday,” the post read.
Additionally, Pharr shared that police pinged Terri’s phone near the top of Monteagle Mountain, a treacherous stretch of interstate that runs across the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Chattanooga. The road is considered one of the most dangerous in America due to it’s 2,000 foot rise and steep grade.
There was concern that Kathey was a victim of foul play or hazardous road conditions. But a new update seems to indicate otherwise.
An update shared to social media Tuesday evening announced that Terri Lynn Kathey had been found dead and there was no indication of foul play.
The Metro Nashville Police Department announced that Kathey’s body was found at the Monteagle Welcome Center near Chattanooga on Tuesday.
A MNPD spokesperson told FOX17 News that her death appeared to be “natural.”
“I believe detectives have been in touch with the family and local law enforcement in that area. Not sure of her cause of death at this point, but appears that it is most likely going to be natural.”
New Breed Music Group, Kathey’s management and record label, confirmed her passing in a post that read, “It is with a sad heart to announce Terri Lynn Kathy has gone home to God. We have known each other for 35 years. Terri Lynn allowed us to produce her latest album, “Bad Blues Good News”, as well as have us as her management company and Record Label. Terri had the kindest heart and desired to spread God’s word through her music.”
Posts from friends indicate that Terri Lynn was found dead in her car near Monteagle Mountain with a cause of death possibly being a heart attack.
Terry Lynn and Kevin Kathey’s home church, Music Valley Cowboy Church, also shared a statement saying, “It is with sadness that I let you know that they have located sister Terri Lynn, brother Kevin Kathey‘s wife. Unfortunately, she has gone on to be with the Lord. Please keep him and the family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.”
FOX17 reported that Kathey’s body was discovered
Terri Lynn Kathey is survived by her husband, Kevin Kathey, and two daughters, Lisa and Karole.
This is a developing story.
