Music Legend Bonnie Raitt Experiences “Medical Situation”
On Friday (April 28), Bonnie Raitt’s team shared an announcement about her health on social media. The announcement stated that Raitt “has a medical situation” that requires attention.
“Bonnie has a medical situation that requires surgery to address,” the statement read.
The news comes just a few months after Raitt won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for “Just Like That.”
Raitt’s team says doctors have told her she’ll need to take a few weeks off of performing so she can heal after her operation. Unfortunately, those weeks will conflict with five shows she had scheduled for May.

Because of her surgery, Bonnie regretfully had to cancel her May 14 performance at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend in Miramar Beach, Florida. She also postponed four additional shows, with their locations being in Athens, Louisville, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh.
The rescheduled dates for those shows are:
- Athens, GA – rescheduled date TBD 2024
- Louisville, KY – rescheduled for June 30, 2023
- Indianapolis, IN – rescheduled for July 1, 2023
- Pittsburgh, PA – rescheduled date TBD 2024
Raitt’s team said they “deeply apologize” for the delay and any inconvenience caused by the cancellation and postponements. “It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen,” they said. “Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows…”
They said Raitt’s excited to get back on tour in June, starting with a show in Dublin, Ireland on June 1. See the full announcement below.
