Baylee Littrell, Son Of Bryan Littrell From The Backstreet Boys, Just Performed His First Song For Hollywood Week Of American Idol
During the Monday, March 31st episode of American Idol, Baylee Littrell is again out to prove that he belongs in this competition despite his famous last name.
As we learned in his audition, his father is Bryan Littrell, famously of the popular boy band the Backstreet Boys.
After auditioning with an original song titled “Waiting On Myself To Die,” the judges asked Brian to sing with Baylee, and it was magic! They already loved Baylee and were ready to send him to Hollywood Week, but they just wanted to hear some family harmonies!
Baylee Performed An Original Song In The Idol Arena
The first round of Hollywood Week took place at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, California, the same exact theater where judge Carrie Underwood’s Hollywood Week was held. As all the contestants were sitting in the theater, Underwood told them that their lives could change forever after this round of competition, seeing as hers did!

The contestants were all in the audience, but didn’t know what order they’d be going in, so they were just waiting for their turn to take the stage to perform. Once it was Baylee Littrell’s turn, he was locked in.
He performed an original song called “Hey Jesus,” which he wrote following the passing of his grandmother.
In his pre-taped package, Baylee explained that his grandma died, seemingly suddenly. Since his dad was on tour a lot when he grew up, his grandma stepped up for him and they remained incredibly close, with Baylee even calling her his “best friend.”
“My grandma died three years ago almost,” he said as he wiped away tears. “I thought she was going to be around for moments like this. I never expected to lose her, so when I did, I questioned everything. I’d pushed away faith. Thought I would not find it again. This song kind of helped me find it.”
His performance seemed to move his fellow competitors, several of them standing up in the middle of the song. A few contestants could be seen raising their hands to praise God during the performance.
Baylee sang, “Hey Jesus, I broke my wings again / Could you help me up one last time, old friend? / Oh, ‘cause I surrender everything to you.”
During the powerful verse, the cameras cut to Baylee’s parents watching, and dad Brian was singing along, looking so proud of his son.
The judges clearly enjoyed his performance, with Underwood saying, “Baylee, you’re so good. Your heart and your genuineness is coming through, you’re so good.”
