Three Members Of The Southern Gospel Group The Nelons Were Killed In A Plane Crash On July 26
Autumn Nelon Streetman, the sole surviving member of The Nelons, welcomed her baby boy on Sunday (December 1).
On July 26, a plane carrying three members of the family Southern Gospel group The Nelons crashed in Wyoming. The crash claimed the lives of Nelons members Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler.
Amber’s husband, Nathan, was also killed in the crash. Additionally, the Nelons’ assistant, Melodi Hodges, the pilot, Larry Haynie, and his wife, Melissa, were all killed.
Kelly and Jason’s youngest daughter, Autumn Nelon Streetman, traveled separately with her husband, Jamie. When they arrived in Seattle, they learned that Autumn’s entire family had been killed.
“They were all crying, and they didn’t have to say anything. I knew. I looked at Bill [Gaither], and I said, ‘I just lost my entire family, all of them.’ They took me in their arms and we prayed.” Autumn told Woman’s World.
Autumn has leaned on her faith and her love of music to help her through this difficult time. She vowed to keep singing in her family’s honor and delivered a beautiful performance at their funeral service.
Autumn Nelon Streetman Welcomes Baby Boy On Her Mother Kelly’s Birthday
Autumn and her husband Jamie shared the news in April that they were expecting their first child. The happy news came just three months before Kelly, Jason, and Amber passed away.
After so much heartbreak, Autumn and Jamie welcomed their baby boy at 7:55 PM on Sunday, December 1st. They named him Rhett James Streetman.
Baby Rhett’s birthday carries a special meaning. He was born on his late grandmother Kelly’s birthday.
“The hardest but most rewarding thing I’ve ever done,” Autumn captioned a sweet photo of her newborn son. “Happy Birthday Mama, I think you would love this birthday gift.“

Baby Rhett’s arrival comes a few weeks after The Nelons earned a Grammy nomination. Their final album, Loving You, earned a nod in the Best Roots Gospel Album category.
“We worked so hard on this and we are so proud of it. I know my family is looking down smiling,” Autumn said.
Loving You debuted on August 30, one month after Kelly, Jason, and Amber’s deaths. You can order a physical copy of the album here.
