Well, well, well, what do we have here? Another day in the great outdoors, another story of a close encounter with Florida’s resident and an alligator.
This time, it’s a group of three women who got more than they bargained for while tubing down the Ichetucknee River near Fort White, Florida.
According to reports, the ladies were minding their own business, enjoying the lazy float down the river when they stumbled upon an alligator soaking up some sun on a nearby log. Now, normally, this wouldn’t be a cause for concern.
Alligators tend to be more afraid of humans than we are of them and will usually make a quick escape when they sense our presence. But, not this time, folks.
In a video that’s gone viral on TikTok, we see one of the women drifting a little too close for comfort to the alligator’s cozy spot on the log. That’s when the fun really starts.
The alligator begins to hiss like a cat with a hairball, and the woman understandably panics and kicks off the log, creating a sizable splash.
I’ve seen some pretty wild things in my time in the great outdoors, but this takes the cake. The woman in the video is heard exclaiming, “I’ve never seen a gator on the Ichetucknee ever!”
Well, we’re here to tell you, ma’am, that you’re not alone. Alligators are a common sight in Florida’s waterways, but not as much in the Ichetucknee River.
According to Carole Chapuis, who shared the video on TikTok, the alligator was likely protecting its nest. That’s a good mama right there. It just goes to show that we’re not the only ones who get a little defensive when someone messes with our babies.
