Richard Goodall, a humble janitor from Indiana, was crowned winner of America’s Got Talent
Richard Goodall first captured the hearts of Americans when he auditioned for season 19 of America’s Got Talent (AGT) with a rendition of Journey’s hit song “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The performance earned him a coveted Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum, giving him a fast pass to the quarterfinal round of the competition.
Goodall became affectionately known as “The Singing Janitor,” and as the season progressed, his humility and genuine talent shined through. The 55-year-old continued to impress with performances of beloved songs like “Eye of the Tiger” and “Faithfully.”
During the AGT season finale, fans witnessed an emotional full-circle moment when Goodall was given the opportunity to perform “Don’t Stop Believin'” alongside Journey.

Richard Goodall shares his future plans following his AGT win
From the halls of an Indiana middle school to instant stardom, Richard Goodall’s life is about to change dramatically. Following the finale, he spoke with the US Sun about what is to come.
To begin, Goodall and his new wife Angie plan to buy a house together and potentially leave their home state of Indiana. He shared:
“I want to go somewhere warmer. The future, it’s unwritten now, whereas a year ago, I was just the guy that took out the trash and wiped the tables and now possibilities are kind of endless.”
Angie added that she hopes to have a washer and dryer of her own and added:
“It’s pretty safe to say that he’s going to retire from the school and we’re going to do things that we want to do. Life is short, so you got to have fun with it and you got to go out there and grasp your life. You got to live it.”
Richard Goodall discusses the possibility of a film biopic
Richard Goodall revealed that he hopes to follow in the footsteps of Britain’s Got Talent favorites Paul Potts and Susan Boyle and have a film made about his life story. Angie alluded to the fact that her husband has faced many dark trials during his life.
Goodall shared that he hopes to continue to collaborate with the AGT judges, specifically Simon Cowell, explaining:
“He has done so much for not just the music community, but he is a man to not only look up to, but a man who’s changed people’s lives, not just with music, but with these TV shows. He has made regular ordinary people at the forefront.”
Finally, he adds that he hopes to make a difference with his newfound fame and fortune.
“Ange and I definitely intend to give back whatever way we can. The possibilities are endless.”
