America’s Got Talent Ratings Revealed

America’s Got Talent is celebrating its 20th season this year, but is the show still as popular as it was when it first aired?

The current season of AGT premiered on May 27, and for nearly two months, viewers have been tuning in to watch the audition episodes on NBC.

According to Deadline, the competition show has consistently drawn a large number of people watching each time.

So much so that it has been the top entertainment series this summer in terms of viewers tuning in. Nielsen data shares that the season has averaged 5.9 million viewers per episode within seven days of airing.

In other words, AGT is holding on to the same level of popularity it has had in the past.

In fact, at this rate, the show is on track to see its 20th consecutive year as the number one broadcast summer alternative series among total viewers.

The consistent hype around the show is impressive, especially considering AGT‘s audience is not very diverse in age.

Viewers tend to be older, with only 6% under the age of 30. Deadline also reported that 48% of the audience watches the show with others. It’s often in households with both adults and kids or married couples.

There’s still so much more left of Season 20 of America’s Got Talent for those who tune in every single week.

Starting August 19, the live shows will begin. Not only that, but the competition will start airing twice a week, with a one-hour results show on Wednesday nights. This will kick off a four-week quarterfinal round.
