Billionaire Physician Dr. Thomas Frist Jr.’s Former Mansion Sells For Record-Setting Price In Exclusive Nashville Neighborhood
Billionaire physician and HCA Healthcare co-founder Dr. Thomas Frist Jr. purchased a piece of property in Nashville’s exclusive Belle Meade neighborhood in 1993. It cost him $2.2 million.
Over the next decade, Dr. Frist and his wife, Patricia, built their custom estate. Patricia devoted herself to designing the home.
Steve Fridrich of Fridrich & Clark Realty told The Wall Street Journal, “Building this house was a labor of love for his wife. Her signature is all through that house.”
Patricia passed away in 2021. Dr. Frist listed their home on the market the following year, in 2022, at an original asking price of $50 million.
The Home’s Sale Surpassed A Record Previously Set By Alan Jackson
The property recently sold for a lower price. But the price was high enough to set a new record as the most expensive home in the state of Tennessee. Country singer Alan Jackson set the previous record when he sold his Franklin estate in 2010 for $28 million.
So how much did the Frist estate sell for? A whopping $32 million!
According to The Wall Street Journal, a trust associated with retired shipping executive Christopher R. Redlich Jr. purchased the property.
What Features Does The Home Have?
The mansion on the 50-acre estate was finally completed in 2001. The award-winning architects Ferguson & Shamamian worked on the project. Iconic designer Bunny Williams worked on the interior of the home.
The house can be described as elegant and Southern in style. Exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, hand-painted wallpaper, and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace accent the spaces inside.
The home includes a wood-paneled library, a person gym, a country kitchen, an elevator, and a recreation room. It has five bedrooms, ten bathrooms (plus a powder room), and measures 19,811 square feet.
The property also includes a tennis court, a swimming pool, a guest cottage, a gazebo, and a six-car garage.
