American Idol Champion Iam Tongi Shares He’s Engaged

Congratulations are in order for Iam Tongi, because he is now engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Leah!

The American Idol winner revealed the happy news in a joint Instagram post. In it, the couple showed off the beautiful, oval-shaped solitaire ring he had proposed with.

Other photos they shared capture the moment when Iam got down on one knee to ask Leah to marry him. It looks like he popped the question while they were outside by a fire pit, possibly while the two were enjoying a cozy bonfire together.

“I’m officially a fiancée” Leah captioned the post. “Leah Tongi… now I love the sound of that.”

The two lovebirds have actually been together for quite some time, even though they’ve kept their relationship mostly private.

On December 3, they celebrated their second anniversary. To mark the special occasion, Iam shared a tribute to his girlfriend on social media, along with a sweet caption thanking her for always supporting him and standing by his side.

“Happy 2 year anniversary ❤️❤️ beautiful,” Iam wrote. “To woman that changed my life , I just want to tell you that you mean so much to me you are what keeps me going and keeps me motivated And I just wanted to thank you for putting up with me for two years!! 😂 but I wanted to say thank you babe for always loving me and supporting me through my ups and downs and for helping me stay positive. I can’t wait to see what forever has in store for us”

What Has Iam Tongi Been Up To After Winning American Idol?

The 21-year-old first rose to fame after winning season 21 of American Idol, and he hasn’t slowed down since. After taking home the title in 2023, he began releasing his own original music and has been a part of several major projects.

This year, Iam was featured on the soundtrack for the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, recording “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” with the Kamehameha Schools Children’s Chorus.

Not to mention, he’s spent most of the year on the road, including opening for Idol judge Luke Bryan over the summer. He also launched his first headlining tour back in October.

Additionally, Iam had the opportunity of a lifetime earlier this year when he made his Grand Ole Opry Debut. He dedicated his performance to his late father, who, he says, introduced him to country music.

“My dad was a huge country music fan. I grew up listening to The Grand Ole Opry with him but never imagined I’d get to stand in the circle, on this stage. Tonight was a dream come true. This one’s for you, Dad.”

We wish Iam Tongi and his now-fiancée a lifetime full of happiness! You can see their sweet engagement announcement below.
