Country music fans love collaborations. So it only seems fitting that the ACM recognizes the best collaborations of a given year in an awards category called Music Event of the Year.
The Music Event of the Year award is given to the artists, producer(s), and record company-label(s) who created the winning collaboration.
The 2022 nominees in the Music Event of the Year category were:
- “Buy Dirt” by Jordan Davis featuring Luke Bryan
- “Famous Friends” by Chris Young and Kane Brown
- “half of my hometown” by Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney
- “If I Didn’t Love You” by Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood
- “Never Wanted to Be That Girl” by Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde
Pearce stood a chance to earn a repeat win in the category. She and Lee Brice‘s “I Hope You’re Happy Now” won the award in 2021.
So did Pearce claim the trophy for a second year in a row with “Never Wanted to Be That Girl”? Or was the winning song something else? Keep reading to find out!
