The 61st annual Grammy Awards came quickly this year. With endless nominees blooming with talent, it was one unforgettable show. While the award show has been kind to country music stars in the past, fans were eager to see who would get recognized for their hard work.
A History Of Winners
In 1998, the legendary Johnny Cash took home the award for Best Country Album for Unchained. Running up against quite the competitors including Patty Loveless, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Dwight Yoakam, Cash ultimately stood out above the rest.
A few years later, country beauty, Faith Hill won Best Country Album for her album, Breathe. The album flew across the charts following its release with two out of the four singles off the album becoming No.1 hits. Several other talented stars have gone on to win the award including Loretta Lynn, Vince Gill, George Strait, and Miranda Lambert.

Brothers Osborne was up for two nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards. Their 2018 album, Port Saint Joe is the second studio album by the country music duo. The album debuted at No. 2 on Billboard ‘s Top Country Albums, selling 19,000 copies in the first week. The lead single off the album was their tune, “Shoot Me Straight.”

Kacey Musgraves – Golden Hour

Musgraves was up for four nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards. Her album, Golden Hour, was nominated for Album Of The Year as well. In 2015, Musgraves won the title for Best Country Album for Pageant Material. Her 2018 album Golden Hour, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard chart.
Chris Stapleton – From A Room: Volume 2

Stapleton has 13 Grammy Award nominations under his belt. In 2017, Stapleton won Best Country Album for his From A Room: Volume 1 album. The Volume 2 album debuted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200. The single released off the album, “Millionaire” is also up for a Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance.

Kacey Musgraves for Golden Hour! The win is Kacey’s third for the night. Prior to the live Grammy Awards show, Musgraves was awarded the Best Country Song trophy for “Space Cowboy” and Best Country Solo Performance award for “Butterflies.”
During her acceptance speech, Kacey thanked her fans for “spreading positivity and light” and for giving her album “wings.” She also credited the album to her husband, Ruston Kelly. “I really believe I wouldnt’ have this album if I didn’t have you…if you hadn’t opened my heart like you did.”
