About Triston Harper

Triston Harper was an early fan favorite on the most recent season of American Idol. He was only 15-years-old at the time and wowed the audience week after week with his energetic performances.

Harper, a native of McIntosh, Alabama, impressed the judges with his compelling story and his audition performance of Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up.”

Triston delivered consistently great performances throughout the competition with covers of songs by Morgan Wallen, Adele, Elvis Presley, Blake Shelton, and more. Harper was eliminated during Disney night after singing “Life Is a Highway,” a Rascal Flatts tune that was featured in the 2006 animated hit film Cars, and “Almost There” from Princess and the Frog.

For the season finale, Harper had the opportunity to sing alongside country star Cody Johnson. The two sang Johnson’s Grammy Award-winning song, “‘Til You Can’t.”

Following his elimination from American Idol, Triston returned to Alabama and hoped that offers to further his music career would come his way. But in a post made to social media in early October, he shared that things weren’t quite going as he had expected.

Triston wrote and asked fans to donate so he and his mom could make their home livable, saying that their house doesn’t have sheetrock, insulation, wiring, or furniture.

“We have one mattress and a blowup mattress. I’m asking everyone who will please help me and my family live in a better place we have running water, but it’s not put together right. My mama has done the best that she knows how to do. Some people has volunteered to help and wouldn’t even help we have a little bit of wiring, but it’s not done right either so I’m asking everyone who can, please help out.”

The next day he told his followers, “Money is not flowing in like I need it to flow in right now. I did not get picked up by a record label.”
