While other country music awards shows carry a sense of formality around them, the CMT Music Awards ceremony is like one big party.

Since the CMT Music Awards are all about having fun, artists and their dates are able to have fun with their wardrobes as well. Long, formal gowns are usually replaced by shorter dresses in bright colors, and the fellas often ditch full-on suits for more casual attire. (Though a few gowns and some suits did make an appearance!)

But even though the event is more “dressed down,” the stars still dress to the nines! And the folks who attended this year’s CMT Music Awards definitely went all-out with their attire.

Carly Pearce fully embraced a glitz and glam vibe with her red carpet ensemble. She wore a short black dress that was covered with multi-colored sequins. It was so sparkly!

But the one thing that glittered even brighter than Carly’s dress was her smile!

Cassadee Pope

Jumpsuits have been all the rage these past few years, so you usually see a few stars wearing them on red carpets. And Cassadee Pope took the phrase “red carpet” literally with the jumpsuit she chose for the CMT Music Awards this year.

The vibrant red ensemble featured a one-shoulder cape and a detailed lace bodice, making it stand out from your average jumpsuit. It was a bold look, and Cassadee was rocking it!

Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan always knows how to make an impression on a red carpet, and he certainly caught our eye in this ensemble. He chose to wear black pants and a black undershirt, and topped it all off with a deep brown jacket.

His look was both polished and casual, perfect for an occasion like the CMT Music Awards!

Brandi Carlile

If there was a signature “accessory” at the CMT Music Awards this year, sequins were it (or just sparkles in general!) Brandi Carlile was following the trend with her multi-colored metallic jacket, which featured an all-over striped pattern.

And did you notice her fun belts? Those brought the whole look together!

Brett & Taylor Young

Pink and gray are two colors that always look great together, and Brett Young and his wife Taylor proved that with their coordinating attire for the CMT Music Awards. Brett dressed in a sharp gray suit, while Taylor wore a blush-colored gown that perfectly hugged her growing baby bump.

Pink was the perfect color for Taylor to wear, since she’s expecting a little girl!

Kelsea Ballerini

We weren’t lying when we said that sequins and sparkles were stealing the show on the CMT Music Awards red carpet! Kelsea Ballerini stunned while walking the red carpet in this glittery white gown, which featured a one shoulder neckline and a slit on both sides of the skirt.

She tied the whole look together with equally sparkly jewelry!

Brantley & Amber Gilbert

Check out that coordinating couple!

Brantley Gilbert went for the classic all-black look, though his jacket did feature some gray pinstripes. Those tied in perfectly with his wife Amber’s sparkly mini dress, which perfectly showcased her baby bump!

The mama-to-be was glowing just as bright as her dress!

Thomas Rhett

Thomas Rhett went for a formal approach by wearing a suit, but he still had some fun with it. Rather than go for a staple color of black, gray, blue, or tan, he decided to go for a bold maroon color. He certainly stood out!

And did we mention how much we love his patterned pocket square? That was a nice touch!

No best-dressed list would be complete without Carrie Underwood! The CMT Music Awards performer and multi-nominee wore a fun and flirty dress with beaded details and glittery fringe.

She pulled her hair up into a high ponytail to make sure she didn’t cover up any part of the dress…and so she could also showcase her elaborate earrings!
